     Mel Bakersfield keeps his airport open despite the protesting townies, an epic snowstorm, and a board of commissioners ready to undermine him. at the heavy cost of estranging his wife and daughters.      Wanda Saknussemm receives word that her archeologist father, who abandoned her years ago to pursue his consuming obsession with Atlantis, has died after falling into a bottomless pit. Throwing aside her safely boring daily life to take her only chance to learn something about the man who left her behind, Wanda soon finds herself falling down the same pit. Shen winds up at the center of the Earth, being hunted by the underground government, and meeting with a parade of helpful and attractive men. Will Wanda find her father alive?
