Unsimulated Car Chase

     This week- a pair of films about criminal elements and the fast decent into obsession.

     When his partner is killed, just three days before retirement, Secret Service Agent Richard Chance becomes obsessed with getting revenge on the counterfeiter Eric Masters. As Chance increasingly goes off the rails, indulging in sexual extortion of an informant and kidnapping and assault, his new partner is powerless to rein him in. Masters and Chance head toward an unavoidable confrontation that is the price they pay To Live and Die in L.A.
     Summer on the Belgian-Netherlands border, eight teens indulge in their sexual curiosity to stave off boredom. This light play soon leads them down the paths of sociopathy, sex trafficking, obstruction of traffic, and murder. One of the most Movies to Scare Parents films ever made, a desperate to be shocking tale of the hidden spoiled sociopath predators that must lie in the heart of all youth everywhere... because reasons- We (Dutch title Wij).
     All that and Dave had a night in a museum, Tyler experiences force feedback cinema at its franchisest, Craig watches Japanese classics under a pile of pug, and Kevin gets drills his secret squirrel army in secret. Join us, won't you?

Let Sleeping Pods Lie

    This week two films about the loss of one's soul in the quest to conform with one's social peers.

     The small town of Santa Mira is having a transient Capgras delusion epidemic. Town physician, Dr. Miles Bennell, is urgently called back from his vacation to try and deal with it. Before long, the good doctor and his suddenly divorced former girlfriend are caught up in a plot of intergalactic origin and just one short catnap away from being consumed by the first film version of modern fiction's most versatile metaphor- Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
     John LeTour, a delivery boy for a high class dealer, is having a midlife crisis. Consumed with feelings directionless with increasing loss of perspective as his boss contemplates moving from pharmaceuticals into cosmetics, he suffers from insomnia and uses his nights filling up composition notebooks journaling his adrift memories. One night, when dropping off a little something for a connection, he runs into his former lover as she maintains vigil over her dying mother. Soon John will be caught up in a murder investigation, a reignited obsession, and the ever piling garbage. Light Sleeper.

Boardingcells

     This week two deeply personal films from multi-hyphenate writer-director-producer-actors. 

     When Jim Royce inherits the mansion of his recently deceased uncle, he does what anyone would and immediately reopens it as a boardinghouse for young, single, female aspiring models and actresses. As the rooms fill up, strange things begin to happen in this mostly happy-ish pseudo-sorority. Will Jim live his harem dreams? Will Victoria's band be signed by a hot record producer? Will Cindy break the cycle of abuse? Will, nay SHOULD, any of them survive the house warming party? The 80s shot on video cult classic- Boardinghouse.
     Ron Decker is sentenced to two years in prison on a drug charge. Before long he finds himself taken under the wing of veteran convict Earl Copen. Copen reviews Decker's case before the 90 day sentence adjustment window closes and help him acclimate to life inside. Will Ron get an early release? Will Copen's influence put him on the tragic path of constant incarceration and release that many suffer? Is Ron even able to rehabilitate? Is all of this just nonsense for the prison industrial complex run amuck? Are we just feeding people to an Animal Factory

Of Gulls and Steel


     This week two tales of men and obsession.

     When a storm turns a four week temp job into an endless nightmare beans get spilled and so does some blood. Is it a brilliant work of art about humanity's most base self or a lot of bright light and fury signifying nothing? Either way there a whole lot to unpack in you take a job at The Lighthouse.

     A train carrying $400 thousand gets robbed by the best led gang in the West. Unfortunately, they get really greedy and steal a gift for the American president and murder one of it's samurai guards. Now an unlikely pair are thrown together on a quest of redemption and revenge. Three of the coolest actors of all time join forces to face the Red Sun.
